Nipping press

A cast-iron press with a platen driven by a large screw. A book goes in for a moment to set paste or glue, flatten a cased-in book, or sharpen a joint; it is not meant to hold a book for hours.

A demonstration: the craft terms are real, the site is invented. Built by plinth from EDN and Markdown; every page is complete without scripts.
